Be The Spark - Jolie Huang

Position: 
Language Assessor, Immigrant Services

Responsibilities: 
Jolie meets with clients and assesses their English proficiency using the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) framework. She offers recommendations for language programs and refers clients to waitlists for their chosen classes. Beyond assessments, Jolie remains committed to client success through follow-ups and ongoing support.

As a dedicated professional in the assessor community, Jolie actively participates in training sessions and conferences to stay ahead of industry best practices. In 2024, she took on the role of Facilitator for Ontario’s Annual Assessors’ Meeting, fostering knowledge-sharing among assessors across the province. Jolie also works closely with Language Training providers, strengthening collaborative initiatives to create smooth and accessible pathways for newcomers to Canada.

Length of Employment:
3 years.

Prior to working at YMCA HBB, Jolie worked at the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick for three years.
