Day Camp Family Night

Calling all campers and families! You're invited to attend our Annual Summer Day Camps Family Night at Camp Chippewa. Join us for games, activites, food, and a chance to canoe or hit a bullseye.

Camp Chippewa (Christie Conservation Area)

Ages 6-13

YMCA Day Camp Kayaker

Enjoy a traditional outdoor Day Camp experience at Camp Chippewa located at Christie Conservation Area. Our site includes spacious playing fields, a beautiful wooded area for supervised explorations, and a safe waterfront setting. Throughout the week campers will have the opportunity to swim, hike, play field games, do arts and crafts, archery, wilderness and environmental pursuits and canoeing.  Campers are grouped according to their age.

Staff to camper ratio is 1:10. 

Bussing is available.

Cost: $172 per week / $138 (Weeks 1 & 6)

 
Camp Chippewa Activities

Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to challenge themselves and develop skills in these camp activities.

Swimming: Safe and fun water games will be provided for all who attend camp. Everyone will be tested to determine swimming capabilities before doing an water-based activities. Campers swim once per day (weather and water permitting), and must pass a swim test to enter the deeper area.

Field Games / Initiatives: These activities blend traditional and wacky games using a team approach.

Hiking: Children will explore hiking trails, ponds, and boardwalks with their group.

Arts & Crafts: Campers will use various mediums to explore their creativity.

Archery: Campers will learn how to use a bow and area and safety procedures.

Canoeing: Campers will learn the basics of paddling and canoe safety. While canoeing all participants must wear a life jacket and adhere to all safety regularions.

What does a typical day at Camp Chippewa look like?
9:00-9:30am Bus arrival / games with bus group
9:30-10:00am Flagpole (camp gathering)
10:00-10:45am Hiking
10:45-11:00am Snack / Sunscreen Application
11:00-12:00pm Low Organized Games or Outdoor Field Game or Team Building initiatives (e.g drumming, Capture the Flag)
12:15-12:45pm Lunch / Low Organized Games
12:45-1:00pm Transition to Swimming
1:00-2:00pm Swimming
2:00-2:15pm Transition from Swimming
2:15-2:30pm Snack / Sunscreen Application
2:30-3:30pm Canoeing / Arts & Crafts / Archery
3:30-4:00pm Flagpole / Bus Lines / Departure
